Our staff helped two parents whose local school board wanted to charge them more than $6,000 in tuition for their son because his legal guardian lived outside of Ontario – even though the boy did not live with the guardian.
The Office of the Ombudsman of Ontario will be closed on Monday, August 4. Our phone lines will also be closed.

Our staff helped two parents whose local school board wanted to charge them more than $6,000 in tuition for their son because his legal guardian lived outside of Ontario – even though the boy did not live with the guardian. We spoke with the school board and the Ministry of Education, and found that the school board was authorized to charge such a fee – however, it agreed to waive it for the school year, to allow the family to settle the issue of the boy’s guardianship.
